Private Music Lessons

At Saint Joseph’s Episcopal School, we offer a wonderful opportunity for students to participate in private voice, piano, guitar, violin, viola, and/or cello lessons during the school day.  For a discounted fee, a student may sign up for up to two semi-private or private lessons each semester. The teachers are college educated in their particular fields and have years of training as professional performers who are highly qualified.  There is a rewards system in place to track the weekly practices with prizes at the end of each month and grand prizes per each recital awarded to the top winners. At each lesson, the teachers give assignments and hold the students accountable for practicing while charting their progress.  Parents sign the assignment sheets to keep them involved, and the students have a set program that is in place per lesson which includes music theory, exercises, and song performance assignments. All piano and singing books that are used are in alignment with the well known, local performing arts schools.  There is one student recital per teacher per semester with all recitals presented here at Saint Joseph’s.

Our private music lessons offer the following:

  • students learn to play an instrument or sing from the beginning level;

  • continue lessons where they have left off;
  • several performance opportunities;

  • students learn music theory;

  • all lessons take place during the school day or after school on campus

Scientific studies have shown that those who take private music lessons increase their IQ, as well as increase understanding and success in all academic subjects by having access to otherwise dormant brain matter which is awakened for the execution of the skills required to play or sing.
