Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed a restful Christmas Break. I don’t know about you, but I was glad to get back into the swing of things. And, I must say, I missed seeing our students, parents and families, and our dedicated faculty and staff. Here’s to a wonderful second half of the school year!
A fun time was had on the Lady Atlantic celebrating a successful Jaguar Fund campaign! The Board member who underwrote this party has already confirmed this gift to us next year, so please plan to attend. I’d like to thank all of those who graciously contributed to this year’s campaign; we are so blessed at St. Joe’s! Look forward to hearing what this year’s earnings are able to provide our students. I want to give a special shout-out to Eighth Grade for being the first class to reach 100% participation in the Jaguar Fund; they were rewarded with a pizza party! If you are still interested in giving, please feel free. The Jaguar Fund is a year-long fundraiser!
Come cheer on our Jaguar Student Athletes as they embark on new sports seasons! Boys have begun Basketball, and Girls are playing Soccer. Schedules for both teams are posted on our website at http://www.sjsonline.org/sports-schedules/ and can also be found on RenWeb. Go Jags!
The Early Childhood Academy invited parents to attend Take Your Parent(s) to Work Day on the 18th, 19th, and 20th. What a great way for parents to see what amazing things occur at the ECA on a daily basis! Coming in February, the ECA will celebrate Grandparents’ Week from February 13th through the 17th. RSVP to Dolores at (561) 278-7735.
Speaking of the ECA, we are looking for a dedicated individual to join its faculty as a Teacher Assistant. The candidate needs to have a high school diploma or equivalent, experience working in a licensed childcare facility (where all licensing guidelines were followed and all policies, procedures, and standards implemented), and must be at least 18 years of age. If you or someone you know is interested, please contact Dolores at (561) 278-7735.
The re-enrollment process is scheduled to begin on February 1st. You will receive an e-mail with instructions on how to fill out paperwork for next school year. (How is it already that time?!) If you need Financial Aid, please complete the FACTS Financial Aid application now. For more information, contact Mary Aperavich, Director of Admission, at firstname.lastname@example.org, or call the Office at (561) 732-2045.
The next time you are visiting our campuses, please take a look at the “beautification” projects recently completed. The exterior of the Office building, around the flagpole, and Swaney Courtyard on the Main Campus have all been revamped, and the ECA’s exterior has been upgraded, as well. Special thanks to Northern Landscape for their vision and hard work!
Coming before we know it is our annual Auction—Southern Nights 2017! We are holding this event in our Gym on Saturday, April 1st. Every year, we ask each family to contribute at least two items for bidding—ranging from gift cards to vacation getaways. For more information, including where to print donation forms, please visit the Auction page of our website at http://www.sjsonline.org/auction/.
It’s not too late to order school pictures! View your child(ren)’s photos at http://mosaicproductions.zenfolio.com and place an order to commemorate this school year. Order forms are available in the Office, or please e-mail Carol Cunningham at email@example.com for one or if you have any questions.
Looking forward to February, we have exciting things coming! One of the most exciting events of our school year occurs on the 17th: Grandparents’ and Special Friends’ Day! We look forward to welcoming our students’ grandparents and/or special friends to our beautiful campus. The day is designed for our guests with a special Chapel service, a Performing Arts presentation, and more, so please RSVP to Kelly or Janet at (561) 732-2045.
Finally, if you need to drop your child(ren) off at school prior to 7:30 AM, please utilize our Early Care/Before School Care program. From 7:00 to 7:30 each morning, students are to come to the Office as teachers do not open classroom doors until 7:30. I facilitate Early Care, so they are welcome to work on homework, AR read, or just visit with me. This costs $8 per day, and it is billed monthly through FACTS. If you have questions about Early Care, please let me know.
As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please reach out to the Office, to teachers, to Division Heads, and/or to me directly. The relationship between home and school is essential to all of us at St. Joe’s!
